Drawing Machine update: How many times can you take something apart and put it back together again? Seems like I have done this about 100 times. I have been reducing slop from the system. Where there was just a hole in the cams or the cogs before now there is a steel sleeve to reduce wear and increase precision. Structure has been added behind the scene to stop the weight of the cams from angling things down. I've also pared down the extraneous bits. The top platter has been lifted to allow for more space. The front cam follower has been completely remade. And an experiment with lengthening the arm resulted in a happy accident. The face got longer not larger! But I like it. Kinda Giacometti. But once I lengthened the arm it got too “whippy” so I had to go back and remake the arm....again. Now I want to make an arm that has adjustable lengths. More fiddly bits as they say here.
