Drop the Jargon (DTJ) is a day for professionals in Australia to use plain language. This includes language both in conversation and in writing (eg. signs, brochures).
DTJ was created for migrants and refugees but it is a great campaign for all kinds of people. If the cause of your sickness is ‘idiopathic’, do you need surgery? Will you recover with time? What does idiopathic mean? DTJ encourages health professionals to avoid terms that a patient will not understand.
