Sir Topham Hatt punishes Peter Sam to work in the yards because of an incident with freight cars. Duncan is delighted with his dilemma and laughs at him. “Fancy not securing your freight cars on a hill. They’ll come back to spook you and your special funnel. Wooo!” Rusty tells Duncan a ghost story about an engine who lost control and fell off a bridge into the swamps and was never found again. “Rubbish” Duncan said. Peter Sam’s driver had an idea to play a trick on Duncan and scare him. Next day he spoke to Duncan’s driver and fireman who agreed. “We’ll do it tonight.”
