Durban Visit, c 1955

This ranging video features clips of David's relatives (Brothers Martin and Aaron and Sonya) as well as Philip seeing ocean waves for the first time. It gives the flavor of Durban as tourist - the markets, docks, rickshaw men etc., giving a sense of place and times. This is one of a series of fairly inadequately restored or enhanced silent super 8 home movies taken by David and Ellen Chudy from the early 50’s to circa 1962. The shoot and visual/technical qualities are pretty much dire as were the initial digitization of this stock, but these images are peripheral to the lives of both parties as described in the following websites and have some historical context.
