Bar-Ilan University 83-612: Digital VLSI Design
This is Lecture 7 of the Digital VLSI Design course at Bar-Ilan University. In this course, I cover the basics of Chip Implementation, from designing the logic (RTL) to providing a layout ready for fabrication (GDS).
Lecture 7 covers the basics of standard cell placement, including algorithmic basis (random and analytical placement) and practical aspects of placement.
Lecture 7b provides a trivial random placement algorithm, analyzes its efficiency and drawbacks, and continues on to a simulated annealing approach.
