In this video, I document my sister and I’s very first attempt at dyeing yarn! We used acid dye powders and undyed merino wool to experiment with color and technique—all from the makeshift dye studio (aka my dad’s garage). It was cozy and fun, but also very messy!
Watch us figure it out as we go, make a few mistakes, and end up with some beautifully vibrant yarn. If you’ve ever been curious about dyeing your own yarn, or just want to see how two beginners tackle it, this video is for you!
Materials Used:
• Acid dye powders
• 100% Superwash Merino Wool (undyed)
• Citric acid + water as mordant
• Several kitchen tools
