This could save your radiator!! (the manual fan can explode at old age)
A quick overview of what converting your e36 to an electric fan looks like.
This is on a 1994 325is, but it would be the same for any 6 cylinder e36.
maybe the 318, idk.
Its very cheap if you do it yourself and don't buy a kit. Here are my expenses:
Fan: $25 - eBay
Relay: $7 - radio shack
switch: $4 - radio shack
solder: $2 - radio shack
connectors, wire, tape, etc, - already had....
in summary, its a very worth while project to do, it may very well save your radiator.
My last manual fan exploded and killed my stock radiator, thats why I have an all-aluminum one now.
Here is a helpful link I used, it also has another wiring diagram http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=26149
