Easy as Doodles - Simple Techniques for Beginners
Easy as Doodles: Simple Techniques for Beginners Hi everybody! Thank you so much for joining me today. As some as you know I was under the weather for a few weeks and had much work piled up so it was not possible to make any new video for a while.Thank you all for your kind patience and priceless support. So, today we’ll explore a simple but powerful art exercise designed especially for beginners and anyone who has never had formal art training. Many people believe they “can’t draw” or that their work is too simple to be considered art. But today, I want to show you how even the most basic doodle-like shapes can turn into dynamic, expressive, and visually appealing compositions. This session is not about technical perfection. It’s about embracing simplicity, imperfection, and your natural way of drawing. Because the truth is: that simplicity might simply br your style. When you stop worrying about precision and start accepting your unique way of making marks, your art gains identity, personality, and expression. 👉 In this lesson, you’ll see how: * Simple doodles can evolve into complete works of art * Your personal style shines through, no matter the subject (portrait, dog, still life, or abstract) * Repetition of tools, colours, and techniques helps build consistency across different themes * Embracing imperfection makes your art more expressive and uniquely yours I’ll be working with acrylic paint, oil pastels, and mixed media, but the focus is not on the materials themselves. Instead, it’s on how the same style can be applied across different subjects, from portraits to still life, while keeping the artwork cohesive and recognisable. Whether you’re painting a person, an animal, or a bowl of fruit, your signature style will naturally come through. And that’s the real beauty of developing a style, it doesn’t confine you to one theme, but instead ties all your creations together. So, if you’re a beginner, or even if you’ve been drawing for a while but struggle with confidence, I encourage you to follow along with this simple, doodle-inspired process. By the end, you’ll see that it’s not about drawing “better”. It’s about drawing you. 🎨 Materials used in this session: * Acrylic paint * Oil pastels * Watercolour markers * Coloured paper * Brushes, sponge, and kitchen paper for blending Remember: this is just an example. I’m not saying this must be your style. But once you find your own, you’ll see how it flows through everything you create. Thank you so much for your kind patience. And as always—keep on practising, and thank you for joining us!
