It is an extremely versatile tool, you can define rules with as much or as little complexity as you want. You can make a Ranked Queue and a Casual Queue, make one for Solo and one for Teams. Define rules for Skill based matchmaking or make it based on Platform or Region. This tool is very well integrated with Game Server Hosting (Multiplay) which is Unity's Cloud Hosting solution for Dedicated Servers. Matchmaker can talk to it and automatically spin up servers.
