Normalize mode can be used during the run-up to see the changes to the EGT's as you run the mag checks. Once established in cruise and leaned out you can also put it into Normalize mode. Normalize mode makes the bars in the graph much more sensitive and also levels them so that you can easily see any changes in the engine. JPI says that Normalize mode only levels the EGT's, however there must have been a software update prior to my EDM900 being released as it levels both the CHT's and EGT's.
