Ego

Ego is innate in everybody. Ego thinks my way is the only way. It thinks that I must win or lose. That is why it is so hard to surrender because when you surrender to the other person, they will break your ego. Ego is nothing but the need for attention. If you uncover it you will see that right from the childhood humans strive for attention; when they are young they cry to get their mother’s attention, when they are older they still look for other’s approval for their actions. Somehow we are brought up to believe that somebody else must approve of us. If you examine the lives of most people around you, you will see that people take upon big loans and mortgages to buy expensive houses, cars or other material things just to look good even though they cannot afford that luxury. Ego is always dormant in everybody and it only raises its hood in resistance. When there is criticism or an opposing or differing view from the other person and you feel anger, at that time you must realize that it is the Ego, which is hurt.
