EIGRP, or Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol, is a hybrid dynamic routing protocol that uses characteristics of both distance-vector and link-state routing. EIGRP is an enhanced version of IGRP. It is an advanced protocol by CISCO, but is now an open standard.
IIt's a dynamic protocol that uses a metric based on bandwidth and delay to automatically make routing decisions. EIGRP uses a unique algorithm, DUAL, that guarantees loop-free paths and provides fast convergence, rapid routing updates that only propagate changes, and efficient scaling.
