Americans should check out that link! No extra cost to you! JFETs let a certain amount of current through their drain when their Gate is held at zero volts (Idss). The actual amount of a given component mostly depends on the type of JFET (part number), which gives you a range of current for each random individual component of that part number. I am using the J310 N channel depletion mode JFET which the datasheet I found has an Idss of 24-60mA. A load on the drain side of the circuit does not change the current flowing as long as you are using enough voltage. Too much voltage though and the transistor overheats. The datasheet says it has a maximum wattage rating of 620mW. I try to keep about 5V across the J310 in this video, which has a 34mA Idss. So, that means that it has to dissipate about 5V x 0.034A = 0.17W of power. #electronics #J310 #JFET
