Electronics Tutorial - How the Basic SMPS work: the Buck, Boost and Buck-boost

#35 In this tutorial video I go over the basic operating principles behind the Buck, Boost and Inverting Buck-Boost Switching power supplies, but also take a moment to remember how the capacitor and inductor are used in such schematics. Just to confirm everything does work as expected I also simulate the SMPS circuits using LTspice. Regarding the "Free Energy" issue, the problem is that I didn't simulate the circuit at steady state - the voltages and currents did not really stabilize, and this is where the issue comes from, if you look at the efficiency from the beginning to a certain point, or at steady state (later than the 10ms mark I used) the circuit will operate as expected.
