I wanted to start a series of portraits of some of my favorite actors, and I figured I would start with one that had a lasting impact on me as a young movie lover. From being the host/father of the almighty "Alien", to bringing monster stories to life as that wonderfully magical "Storyteller" with his ever faithful dog from the original Jim Henson series...While not forgetting his amazing "victim" portrayals as in "1984" or in "Elephant man", John Hurt is an Actor's Actor. He's done it all.
I finally found a photo that sparked my creative juices and strived to capture his very characteristic and unique likeness. I tried to find that sweet spot between rendered and looseness in different areas of the painting. Hope you enjoy! As usual, Ipad and the amazing Procreate app.
