I originally called this video Sourcing and Distribution. It was motivated by my desire to exchange the DC Motor for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). There is a brilliant idea called Field Oriented Control (FOC), which seems to be necessary to control a 3-phase motor, like a PMSM. In general, such motors are packaged with the control boards flashed with the FOC algorithm, and sold as a unit called the Electric Drive. Such units have different interfacing than a DC Motor, and the Simulink model needs to accommodate this. There is an expertise required to understand and implement FOC, too. In general, I assert that a key contribution of good Systems Engineering is to design the interfaces and accommodate the experts. #DCMotor, #Simulation, #EmbeddedControls, #SimulinkMechatronicVids #SystemsEngineering
