Enhanced Dota .vmts Test
I have been playing more with this and the reason some models look strange is because ambient occlusion doesn't like low poly models (more noticiable on girl's boobs). This is fixable by rising the SSAO Bias on SFM but it reduces a bit of the "coolness" of the effect. The other fix is waiting for valve to release proper models, which will probably not happen for some time. It's only noticiable on particular heroes, at least. After spending some time messing with the heroes' textures, i found a series of codes that make SFM handle them like they are models from the TF2 "Meet the" trailers, making them much better looking, alongside Valve's HQ textures. This is done by playing around with AO and phong/rimlight settings. I think BlueFlytrap988 was the first to try this on Dota models. I think he is making a tutorial, but since i can't wait, i decided to try and play with the settings myself. This is the result on a few models. It was used partially (without the HQ textures) on the Beautiful Little Trap video. I may release the codes soon once i fix a few parts of it that are obviously not supposed to work, but work anyway. edit: he posted the tutorial on the modelling section of facepunch.
