Epta Astera (Seven Stars in Koine Greek) is a gregorian folk metal band founded in Chapel Hill, NC in 2007 for a twofold purpose. The first purpose is to bring back old musical styles and methods: 4-part vocal harmonies, ancient instruments, melismatic melodies, and then to fuse them with modern aesthetics like martial industrial and metal. Though modern music and technology have brought many advancements (which made the band possible in the first place), we should not throw out the Wests rich musical traditions that brought us where we are. EAs style varies from track to track, ranging from fragile and orchestral to grandiose and bombastic, incorporating styles from shoegaze and black metal to medieval and neofolk.

Lyrics:
Gaudete, Gaudete, Christus est natus
Ex Maria Virgine, Gaudete!
Tempus adest gratiae
Hoc quod optabamus,
Carmina laetitiae
Devote reddamus.
Deus homo factus est,
Natura mirante,
Mundus renovatus est,
A Christo regnante.
Ezecheelis porta
Clausa pertransitur,
Undelux est orta
Salus invenitur.
Ergo nostra contio
Psallat iam in lustro,
Benedicat domino,
Salus Regi nostro.
