Hi, everybody! Whoa... another one? Already?! Well, don't pat me on the back too fast. I've had this one in the works since March. I just finally came back and mixed it. It's a song about dread, really. The unease of what's to come. The sentiment is acceptance and moving on without fear. You gotta take what comes but not be a passenger in your own life! Sickening, right? I don't write in major chords often, so it's a departure... I did a sorta clip-show video because I didn't want 3 minutes of a weird album cover concept art sitting there motionless... long sentence. These are videos from the past 2 years or so.... but the song is about time passing and moving through life... well, maybe not directly... but I just didn't have a way to shoot a bunch of video of time passing so instead, it's just some visuals to pass the time. Acoustic on the left and lead electrics on the right. I like the bass part. Tasteful but still on the edge of being too much. There's some subtle electric piano in there too. The real surprise is that I mixed the violins and cellos low! GASP! "But Bob! They're supposed to be so loud that the lyrics are unintelligible!" Well, point taken... but I felt like they needed to tuck in a little more. The special thing in the chorus is a borrowed chord. Starts in the natural vi then a surprise bVI resolving back to the root. Plus you get the whole tone walk up to that home chord. There's also a weird count in the verse but I think the rest is just 3/4 and 4/4 shuffles. That's it for now... Like I've been saying for months, I've got so many other ones just sitting there and I don't know what to write about that isn't miserable or on-the-nose... or both... usually both.
