Essentials 5th Edition Student in Class Materials
In this video, I talk about what would be nice for a tutor to provide for students in class on community day for a Classical Conversations Essentials of the English Language curriculum lesson. This is an alternative to a prong folder or brad portfolio folder that would serve the same purpose. As the tutor, I pass these out and collect them again each week so I can change out pages and clean them at home. *The final cost to make the in-class folders was: about $2.50 each with the printed pages + protectors + clear folders. I have been changing out the relevant charts weekly, as well as sanitizing the pages, which only takes a few extra minutes. Here is a link to the clear plastic folders I bought (I punched my own holes in them to put them into my organization system across multiple binders): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007ON5RH2/?coliid=I30XFWVY1D49VV&colid=3NHAGEEX0E0RN&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it Obviously these cost more each than a simple prong folder but they have their own advantages also and for a smaller class size the cost is affordable, especially since I am not planning on including copies of every chart but only the charts pertaining to that week's lesson (less pages means less cost overall). The black mini rings I cut off of the plastic Pro Click binding system I already own, but these rings could be an alternative. Once the folders are set up, you don't have to fuss with them. https://www.amazon.com/Shapenty-Scrapbooking-Binder-Keychain-60Pieces/dp/B01LYC9X83/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=mini+metal+rings+hinged&qid=1625449401&sr=8-3 Watch here (https://youtu.be/OZkq1wITkOk) to see how I sewed the page protectors together to make a diy truvium table; it is very easy. The page protectors have to match, and 1 of the 2 must have it's 3 hole margin cut off. Place the 2 protectors abutted to each other and sew with a wide zig zag stitch catching both protectors as you sew down the length. Do not overlap the page protectors, they must be laying flat. Remember to back-stitch to anchor the threads on both ends. When you do it right, it will be able to fold back in either direction and lay flat. *ETA: I'm glad I made my daughter that skinny IEW source text/kwo notebook because her water bottle leaked and damaged everything on week TWO! Since it was just copies, I didn't shed any tears! :D
