Some insects and other arthropods are soft bodied and do not preserve very well as dried specimens. Thus pinning these specimens is not recommended. Most of these arthropods include the larval and nymph stages of insects and non-insect arthropods such as centipedes, millipedes, crustaceans, spiders and other arachnids. These specimens must be preserved in alcohol.
