Check out my new website: www.EulersAcademy.org This is the sixth proposition in Euclid's second book of The Elements. This proposition starts with a line that is bisected and then has some small portion added onto it. The goal of the proof is to show that the rectangle contained by the whole (with the added portion) and the added line segment add together with the square on the half to result in the square formed by the half plus the added segment.
