Evaluating the Second Virial Coefficient for Common Potentials

In this lecture we explicitly compute the second virial coefficient for several important model potentials, including hard spheres, square-well, Sutherland, and Lennard-Jones interactions. We emphasize analytical techniques, limiting behavior, and temperature dependence, and show how different physical features of the potential influence the sign and magnitude of the virial coefficient.
