GTM made me aware of the fact that the "Chikuwa Blocks" have appeared in other games as well, namely SM3DL and SMB3. They looked similar, but not as "Chikuwa-like" as in SM64. It might just be a fun little design twist or a creative adaptation of the SMB3 blocks, or just a random design concept.
