Everybody's Talkin'
Yesterday, I had the song "Everybody's Talkin'" running through my head. The version I was thinking of was the one written by Fred Neil and made famous by Harry Nilsson back in 1969, but I didn't have a backing track for his version. Instead, I had one by Madeleine Peyroux. I do like her take on that song, but didn't feel like trying it myself, at least not yesterday. So I moved on with my Monday... which was a mix of lots of rain and sunshine. Right now, it's unseasonably cold in Germany. As I write this, it's about 50 degrees! This morning, I still had that song in my head, so I went looking for an appropriate backing track. I discovered Randy Crawford's upbeat version, which she did with the late and great keyboardist, Joe Sample, back in 2006. I listened to it a couple of times and decided to give it a whirl today... The sun is out this morning, but I won't be surprised if we have some rain. Kind of suits the song, and my mood, because I really feel like I'd like to just move on from everything. LYRICS Everybody's talking at me I don't hear a word they're saying Only the echoes of my mind People stopping staring I can't see their faces Only the shadows of their eyes I'm going where the sun keeps shining Thru' the pouring rain Going where the weather suits my clothes Backing off of the North East wind Sailing on summer breeze And skipping over the ocean like a stone I'm going where the sun keeps shining Thru' the pouring rain Going where the weather suits my clothes Backing off of the North East wind Sailing on summer breeze And skipping over the ocean like a stone
