Basic EVPN Terms :- ================== Ethernet Segment (ES): Link connected between PE and CE. Ethernet Segment Identifier (ESI): Identifier value assigned to PE-CE link, for single homing router this value is 0. EVI: The EVPN instance (EVI). It serves the same role of an IP VPN Routing and Forwarding (VRF). BUM : Broadcast, unknown Unicast, Multicast traffic Once you commit the EVI configuration multihoming router will generate. • Route Type-1 ( Split Horizon label, Aliasing, Mass withdrawal ) • Route Type-3 (Inclusive Multicast) • Route Type-4 (Designated Forwarder Election ) Single Homing router will generate. • Route Type-3 (Inclusive Multicast) • Route Type-2 (MAC) # generate by all routes once it learn the mac address.
