Exploring Poupard Elementary School ( Everything left behind! )
Charles A. Poupard Elementary School in Harper Woods, Michigan, was built in 1950-1951. It was designed by Earl G. Meyer, according to a historical architecture blog. The school is a 63,000 square foot structure located on 6.5 acres. It was part of the Grosse Pointe Public School System. Poupard Elementary School in Harper Woods, Michigan, closed due to declining enrollment and a district-wide grade reconfiguration plan. The Grosse Pointe Public School System board voted to close Poupard and Trombly Elementary in June 2019, with the closure officially taking place at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. The decision was part of a larger effort to address budget issues and improve the district's financial stability. The fact that Poupard served a predominantly Black student population, while the surrounding Grosse Pointe community is largely white, raised concerns about equity and fairness in the decision-making process. The school was later demolished in August 3rd 2025 with plans to build a residential area where the school once laid. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ——————————— If you guys would like to see Some photos I got from this place Be sure to check out my instagram I put the link right here | https://www.instagram.com/chris_conquer26?igsh=MTJsYnhzZ3FzdG5xcA%3D%3D&utm_source=qr . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ——————————— If you guys would like to See TikTok’s of these places Be sure to check out our TikTok I’ll put the link right here | https://www.tiktok.com/@detroiturbanexploring?_t=8p60Uei29v9&_r=1 . . . . . . . . .
