Exploring SPCC Settings
The video was prompted by questions about PiMagic Studio and its use of generic SPCC settings for filter brand and sensor type versus very specific filter and sensor brands and models. In this video I run some test to see if changing to very precise, or completely wrong, settings makes a difference in the result. So, if you use SPCC and feel stressed over getting the settings just right, you can relax. Generic settings will give you the same result. All of your other processes will have far more affect on the shape and color of the stars than SPCC itself. Even if you start with very precise star color, you won't have it when you finish. For myself, I only use SPCC on plain RGB, OSC with a dual-narrowband Ha/Oiii filter, or on narrowband HOO. I use generic RGB settings for any RGB image, and generic narrowband settings for any dual-narrowband or an HOO image. I don't create SHO images in PixInsight, so I never use SPCC on an SHO image.
