This demo conducted in a science lab shows how water can be used to protect an exposure from heat during a fire such as an adjacent structure. It is more about “how” the water is applied than it is about “how much” water is applied. It also shows how an LP gas tank will absorb some heat when the heat is applied to an area below the liquid level. But as soon as the level drops or the flames is moved up to an area above the liquid line, the metal can heat up and fail.
