Face rig at Turn10 Studios
This is an overview of the face rig system I developed during my time at Turn10 Studios which was one of my tasks while there. I tried to keep the joint count relatively low for the sake of performance in the game engine, so there was a bit of a balancing act and hopefully clever solutions to keep the joint count low while maximizing the liveliness of the face. There is a fully scripted build to allow it to be applied to any character. My prompt for designing the system was basically to have a jaw open, blinks, and maybe a little eyebrow and mouth corner/smile stuff to help with expressions since the rig would mostly be used for background characters (Forza Motorsport is a racing game after all). But, it was also possible lipsync might be needed in the future, so I wanted to leave them with something that could hold up for a while without needing a completely new facial rigging system. hope you like it!
