How to create Fairisle on basic knitting machines, such as the LK150 and Brother KX350. This is the method shown in the machine manuals, and is done the same way on both machines. I am demonstrating on an LK 150. Also included is a demo of the old Studio/Singer LS6/LS9.
Neither the LK150 nor the KX350 have automatic pattern knitting capability. All needles must be selected manually, and it requires one pass of the carriage for each color in each row. This makes knitting Fairisle a little more challenging on these basic knitting machines, compared to punchcard or electronic machines, but it is indeed possible to create a great color work garment.
