Fairport Harbor, Ohio
Fairport Harbor is a coastal community on the Great Lakes in Ohio. The town is above the mouth of the Grand River and overlooks two historic lighthouses. Fairport Harbor was settled in the early 1800's and originally named Grandon. The name was changed to Fairport in 1836 and Fairport Harbor in 1959. The two Fairport Harbor lighthouses are the Fairport Harbor lighthouse and the Fairport Harbor West Breakwater lighthouse. The Fairport Harbor lighthouse is the original lighthouse, and a marine museum constructed in 1825 and rebuilt in 1871. The Fairport Harbor West Breakwater lighthouse was built in 1925 which is a private home at this time, but does do tours on special events. The Finish Heritage Museum is free for tours and the staff are friendly and informative about the museum items. Fairport Harbor is a great little town, on my visit there was a live concert by the park with a Arts and Craft Fair along with several mobile food trucks. They do live concerts throughout the summer at the park.
