Farming for the Future

Farming for the Future is about a regenerative farmer called Lisa Guy. Inspired by ancient sustainable farming practices, she showcases a landscape where nature and food production can coexist. In the face of troubling global geopolitics and the evolving climate crisis, regenerative farming is one of many positive grass root solutions. In West Penwith, the furthest corner of Cornwall, Lisa establishes that there are many biodiverse ways of managing the land for a resilient future. It’s becoming ever more apparent that the mainstream food system is hooked on fossil fuels. The unfolding conflict in Iran has exposed the fragilities of our food systems that are overly dependent on finite extractive fuels. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz sent energy and fertilizer prices soaring, revealing vulnerabilities within food security. From observation and collaboration, this intimate short film is a testament to Lisa’s 30 years of farming and her sensitivity to the land. Engaging with a slower, more ancient way of life, she’s shaped a landscape that provides an income for her family while enhancing biodiversity and soil productivity. We see an example of how people can manage the land in a sensitive and sustainable way, learning from the ancient past to create a sustainable future.
