In this lecture, we discuss the vorticity-stream function approach as the alternative method for the numerical solution of the Navier-Stokes equation for two-dimensional incompressible flows. The equations are derived and the algorithm described. The lid-driven cavity flow problem is taken up as a test case to demonstrate the calculation of the boundary values of vorticity.
