Figuring out my Figures
I’ve been building figures this week and details for the German trenches in my WW1 No Man’s Land Diorama. I have the British soldiers in no man’s land figured out where they’re going, but I haven’t figured out where my figures for the German trenches are going, so that’s been the major push that I’m working on this week. I also explain in the video how early war trenches needed to be modified to deal with shock waves from artillery explosions. If an explosion went off in a trench, the shock wave would travel down the straight trench, injuring soldiers further away from the impact point. Later in the war, trenches were dug to alleviate this issue by having a zig-zag or multiple 90º angles to stop the shock wave, but earlier in the war, they built up blocking bolster to deal with the problem. I built some this week, and you can see in the video how they would interrupt the flow of a shockwave from traveling down a straight trench.
