Finding The Rings Center, Quick Tip
All you need is something with an accurate 90 and 45 degree edge. Start by drawing a straight line with the 90 degree edge then line up the top of your 45 degree edge with the beginning of your 90 degree edge and draw the line. Do the same on the other side (the end) of your 90 degree line. You now have a dimensionally accurate triangle. After this you need to measure how far over from the edge that the peak of the triangle is and transfer that measurement to the 90 degree edge of the triangle and draw a line down the center of the triangle with that measurement. This allows you to center the ring in the triangle using the two 45 degree edges and find the center of the ring by using the line from the middle of the triangle. To put it simply, just make a triangle with all sides accurate and draw a line down the middle. I did this on my bench pin because it most convenient. It may be more convenient for others to make a simple jig from pine wood or even plastic.
