Finding Voltage angle using DMM and Negative seq current
Describe about the Negative sequence current due to different phase angles between each phases (phase to neutral) in electrical systems. Using DMM, Ph-N ,Ph-Ph voltages are measured and Voltage phase angles are calculated.. In this video, it is clearly explained about Negative sequence current in equally balanced load & equal measured Voltage between phase & neutral in Un-earth system (motor load) and earth system ( furnace heater load). Most people think, If Measured phase-neutral voltages (Volt Meter measured values-Magnitude) are equal & load are equal, then Negative sequence current is zero. This assumption is wrong .Voltage phase angle variations will lead to negative sequence current .It is explained with example. Negative sequence current in 3 wire system & 4 wire systems are explained separately. It describes to find phase angle between each phases using Digital Multi Meter(DMM). After finding each phase current (Magnitude &phase angle with reference to R-phase current), negative sequence current is calculated. If this current exceeds I2 setting ,Alarm or tripping will occur after time delay without any fault in the load.
