Fire pit - The Keyhole-shape Improved
Covering the bottom of the firepit with stones will both reflect the heat upwards and provide a stable platform. By using flat stones on top I can easily cook using pots or pans, without having to build a tripod or a similar construction. A larger but thinner stone can be used as a bridge between the two opposing sides in the narrower part. It will get hot fast… really hot… If I had no frying pan, pot or other container, I would be able to cook directly on this stone. Maybe not soup, but other, reasonably solid food. I'll use my little frying pan to make some pancakes! - Emelies Vanilla Pancakes (without eggs) served with finely chopped apple and cinnamon - 2 dl Flour of your own choice 1/4 teaspoon Salt 2 tablespoons Soy flour (one tablespoon replaces one egg) 4 dl Milk and a piece of fresh Vanilla stick One Apple A piece of Cinnamon stick A pinch of Sugar Combine all dry ingredients and mix. Add milk and whisk thoroughly together. Pour into a pre-chilled thermos Peel and finely chop the apple. Crush the piece of cinnamon stick. Mix apple, cinnamon and (a little) sugar and stir. Melt real butter in your frying pan when it is hot enough, and then add plenty of batter. Once you have turned the pancake, pour over the apple-cinnamon mixture and let it melt. Fold and serve ... I'm just a swedish woman trying to learn the art of bushcraft and survival...
