In this short film a child with disabilities learns to walk: first to move, then to stand, and finally to take his first steps. The film introduces different techniques of physiotherapy. It also highlights the need to take a wholistic approach on children with disabilities to take into account their minds and emotions in addition to their bodies. Adult workers offer not only massage and therapy, but also love and understanding. Occupational therapy for children takes the form of both play and work. As the film ends, the boy walks. The film won the Academy Award for Documentary Short Subject in 1947.
