The issue happens because xAI recently changed their API settings, and the native Make.com xAI module no longer works correctly. Until Make updates their integration, the best solution is to use the HTTP module instead. In this tutorial, I walk you step by step through setting up Grok via HTTP in Make.com, including text generation, image generation, and image analysis. First, you’ll learn how to generate a new xAI (Grok) API key from the xAI Cloud Console and safely use it inside Make. Then we configure the HTTP module with the correct headers, authorization (Bearer token), request method, and JSON body structure required by the Grok API. You’ll see how to send chat prompts to Grok 4.1 Reasoning, control temperature and max tokens, and correctly read responses from the output structure. After that, I show how to generate images using the Grok image generation endpoint and retrieve the image URL directly from Make. Finally, we build a third HTTP request that allows image analysis, where Grok receives an image URL and accurately describes what’s in the image. By the end of the video, you’ll have three fully working Grok modules inside Make.com: Text generation Image generation Image analysis These setups completely bypass the broken xAI module and restore full Grok functionality inside your automations.
