Floating shelf -process-

I will share the process of making a super simple floating shelf. This is a side story of what I'm making (currently editing) with scraps of wood from what I'm making. This wood is HIBA, which is a very nice aromatic wood. It is also called aroma wood in Japan and is used for various building materials. I made a simple floating shelf using it. The material was in very poor condition, with cracks in some places, and the end piece was so thin that I was not sure how to make it in order to avoid cracks. Rather than digging grooves with a router, I chose to expose the inner wood by making several passes with a table saw and daring to expose the inner wood. I expected an artificially floating look, with the inner part visible through the end grain. And it succeeded. The finish is a sanding sealer and wax finish, with the sanding kept to the extent that band saw marks remain. The wood used for the inner is probably zelkova(?). This hardwood is abundant in Asia, and this one is very stinky :D It is fastened to the wall from the bottom so that no screws are exposed on the surface. It will retain enough strength as long as you do not put anything heavy on it. In fact, we had discovered a large crack on the surface from the beginning of the production. This could have been neatly folded out in the editing of the video, but I couldn't help but notice it and included a simple ca glue fix process. Knots, the downside of softwood, always freak me out.
