Flourishing

Flourishing is not simply a matter of slapping some lines together and hoping for the best. It is a complex dance of shapes, crossings and interactions. The basic premise is the same across ALL FLOURISHES and in it’s different genres, both contemporary and historically. This is a Fraktur letter with some Cadel flourishes done with a pointed flexible metal nib. The DUCTUS is a little different if done with a quill and the feel and look is dramatically different if executed with a broad edged nib. I will cover this in my Flourishing Lecture and Workshop, May 4th and 9th respectively, and I can guarantee the History of Flourishes will surprise you.
