We tested the strengths of different wing sections by slamming them
into a metal rod as fast as we could (with rubber bands). The results may surprise you!
Wing dimensions: 10" chord with 1" spar placed 2" back from the leading edge. Two folds were added to increase curvature of leading edge.
Wing weights (for 10" sections):
Basic: 48.9 g
Balsa leading edge: 50.1 g
Balsa with wing tape: 54.9 g
Balsa with gorilla tape: 56.7 g
Insulation foam: 65.0 g
Everything: 78.8 g
