The plaintiff says she bought a class textbook for her son at the defendant’s store, and it turns out his friend had the same one and gave it to him. She says when they brought the brand-new, shrink-wrapped book back to the store, the defendant wouldn’t take it back or refund their money, so she’s suing for the amount spent. The defendant says they only take books back if the customer has proof they dropped the class and if it’s within four weeks of the start of the semester, and they have signs stating this all over the store.
