Introduction: A Vision of Spiritual War • Revelation 12–15 pulls back the curtain on the cosmic battle behind all earthly events. • What we see in the world—temptation, persecution, spiritual struggle—is part of a larger heavenly war. • “This is wartime. There is a battle for your soul and for the souls of people all around you…” ________________________________________ II. Vision 1 — Revelation 12: Satan Has Been Conquered A. The Characters 1. The Woman — Symbolizes the people of God (OT Israel + NT Church). 2. The Child — Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah. 3. The Dragon — Satan, “that ancient serpent… the deceiver of the whole world.” B. The Story of the War 1. The Birth of Christ Declared Satan’s Doom 1. Satan tried throughout the OT to stop the promised Seed. 2. “Over and over… this dragon worked to keep Christ from coming… but he could not stop Him.” 2. The Death of Christ Defanged the Adversary o At the cross, Jesus triumphed over Satan (Col. 2:15). 3. The Resurrection of Christ Destroyed Satan’s Accusations o The accuser is thrown down; believers overcome by the blood of the Lamb. C. The Church’s Ongoing Battle • Satan persecutes the church, but he is a defeated foe. • We fight from victory, not for victory. • “The spiritual battle being waged today is a battle that’s already been won.” ________________________________________ III. Vision 2 — Revelation 13:1–10 Satan Works Through God-Defying Government • The first beast represents governmental power acting as divine authority. • God permits the beast to: o Curse His name o Crush His people o Control the nations • Call to the church: Endure. Trust God. Do not fear. ________________________________________ IV. Vision 3 — Revelation 13:11–18 Satan Deceives Through False Teachers and Idolatrous Systems • The second beast looks like a lamb but speaks like a dragon. • Represents false religion, deceptive ideologies, and economic systems. • Leads people to worship the first beast. • The “mark of the beast” symbolizes belonging to the world’s idolatrous system. • Every person belongs either to Christ or to the world. ________________________________________ V. Vision 4 — Revelation 14:1–5 Faithful Followers Will Stand, Sing, and Be Satisfied • The 144,000 symbolize the redeemed church. • They follow the Lamb wherever He goes. • They walk in purity and truth. • Encouragement: Hold fast even when it costs you everything. ________________________________________ VI. Vision 5 — Revelation 14:6–13 Who You Worship Determines Your Eternity • Three angels proclaim: 1. Fear God and worship Him. 2. Babylon has fallen—the world’s pleasures are empty. 3. Judgment is coming for all who worship the beast. • Contrast: The saints who endure will enter rest. ________________________________________ VII. Vision 6 — Revelation 14:14–20 The Judgment of God Is Inevitable and Intense • Two harvests: o Harvest of the righteous — gathered to Christ. o Harvest of the wicked — thrown into the winepress of God’s wrath. • Every person will stand before God—either in Christ or in sin. ________________________________________ VIII. Vision 7 — Revelation 15:1–4 The Song of the Redeemed • Echoes the Song of Moses (Exodus 15). • The redeemed sing: o “Great and amazing are your deeds…” o “Who will not fear, O Lord…?” • One day, all God’s people will celebrate His final victory. ________________________________________ IX. Conclusion: Fight From Victory • Satan is defeated. • Christ reigns. • The church overcomes by: o The blood of the Lamb o The word of our testimony o Loving not our lives even unto death • Call to action: o Endure. Proclaim. Stand firm. o Live as ordinary believers doing extraordinary things for God’s glory.
