For Meg
This footage was taken in June of 2018 at Seattle Children's Hospital, where my friend Meg invited me to stay the night with her, her mother Barbara, and her little girl Ingrid. Struggling with a rare disease--so rare that it doesn't currently have a name--little Ingrid inherited a recessive mutated TBCD gene from each parent resulting in a progressive neurological disease. Meg was strength and devotion embodied and put aside everything else to be with Ingrid throughout what must have been such painful months, making absolutely certain she was cloaked in warmth, comfort, and so much love, until her last breath. On this night, after Ingrid fell asleep, Barbara, Meg, and I curled up on the tiny hospital couch together, watched Steel Magnolias, and cried. In honor of Ingrid Aspen All- rest in peace little angel.
