Ford 302 Engine Issues

This episode of the Broncast, we talk about engine issues on the Ford 302. First off which engine do you have? 289 and 302? There were basically three main engines offered in an Early Bronco: 1. Straight 6 170ci 2. 289 V8 3. 302 V8 Some Broncos might have a 351ci engine swapped in place of the old 302 at some point. The 351 was never offered during the early bronco years. Diagnosing your engine: 1. Loss of power - it's probably just old. 2. Sluggish, bogs down or hesitates - it's probably just old. 3. Leaking - it's probably just old, but clean it off and check it. 4. Smoking - smoking is bad for your Bronco! Something is wrong. 5. Running rough - something is wrong. 6. Back firing - Something is wrong. Ways to check your engine: 1. Leak down test - Tells you how worn out the piston rings are. https://amzn.to/40IOPyr 4. Coolant pressure testing - Check for leaks in hoses 5. Testing the vacuum system - Your engine should have vacuum pressure. 6.
