Forest Devastated by Hurricane Helene

Wanna rubber-neck some Hurricane Helene Forest Devastation? This is a little walk-through on one of the harder-hit sections of my property's lower logging road. It's quite a lot of blow-down, eh? (I included some before & after footage for comparison.) This part of the road had been completely inaccessible for nearly 5 months. I'm so grateful to the EcoForesters chainsaw crew for cutting that road open again for me last week. It was good to be able to surveil the area, at last, but it sure was a disheartening and sobering sight. Here's hoping more wildlife will find their way back soon! Unfortunately, this is just a small portion of the devastation in our area. My neighborhood was hit particularly hard. The blow-down damage extends in all directions, down the ridgeline, through the neighborhood to the valley below (where there was extensive flooding along the creek), and up to my home, and beyond the ridge of Elk Mountain Scenic Highway, which is a different kind of scenic these days.
