Forget not this one thing -2 Peter 3:8
Forget Not This One Thing “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” 2 Peter 3:8 Peter speaks to believers and says, “be not ignorant of this one thing.” Don’t let this slip your mind. God does not measure time like we do. We get impatient, but God is working on an eternal clock. What feels delayed to us is not delayed to God. Truth Don’t forget what God said just because time has passed. “God is never late—He is working on a timeline that outlives ours. 1. The Call to Remember We are forgetful people. We forget promises, truth, and what God has said. But God tells us not to forget. 2. God’s Clock Is Not Our Clock God stands outside of time. What feels long to us is short to Him. He makes everything beautiful in His time. 3. Delay Does Not Mean Denial God is not slack concerning His promise. His delay is mercy, giving time and working behind the scenes. 4. What We Must Not Forget Don’t forget God’s timing is perfect, His promises are sure, and He is working even when unseen. Summary Time can make truth feel distant, but God is not slow or late. The danger is not that God forgets, but that we forget. Poem Forget Not When days grow long and answers seem late, And hope feels pressed beneath the weight, Remember, child, what God has said— His Word still lives, though time has spread. A thousand years are like a day, He’s never lost nor gone astray, So hold the truth within your heart God’s perfect time will play its part. Cliché “Time may test your memory—but faith remembers what God said.” Prayer Lord, help us not to forget what You have spoken. When time stretches long and answers seem delayed, teach us to trust Your perfect timing. Keep our hearts steady, our faith strong, and our minds fixed on Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
