He came at dusk in robes of white, A quiet flame beneath the night. He said to someone, voice low and sly, “I want to sleep in his place, see why. Why him? I want his life, his vision or power.” I guessed then — curiosity, maybe jealousy, Drove him to this strange decree. I watched him lie in sheets of gold, The air grew still, the room turned cold. And in my chest I felt the dread, Of someone else inside my head. Four dreams carried me beyond the dawn, Where right and wrong both bled and shone. I lost my name, I found my flame, In kingdoms built on shifting shape and shame. Four dreams spoke, then disappeared — Each one truer, each one feared. The crowd was screaming in the square, Flags like fire filled the air. A single sound — then silence came, The president almost fell, the world aflame. I saw the truth inside that scene: Power dies to keep us clean. The king was gone, but none were free, Just mirrors of hypocrisy. Four dreams carried me beyond the dawn, Where crowns and shadows both are torn. I lost my name, I found my flame, Between the sinner and the saint. Four dreams whispered, soft but clear — “Endings bloom when truth draws near.” Then I was flying, wide and high, No ground below, just endless sky. An angel knelt beside a flame, And called the stars by ancient name. Below, the voices chanted still, Around two sleepers, calm and still. Bound to earth, by will unknown, The greater crowd began to build. Behind them stood a masoned pyramid, Each stone inscribed with none the same. They ran in circles, chanting loud, Around the sleepers, calm and bowed. While light and shadow interposed. I hovered close, yet watched from chill. I asked the light, “What must I be?” It said, “The watcher — never the sea.” Another crowd, smaller and louder, Blind with laughter, proud of the shroud. They built their towers out of lies, Chasing smoke beneath dim skies. I passed above — unseen, unknown, A ghost among the overthrown. Their eyes were closed, their hearts of stone, And a voice declared, “They’ll reap their own, Fall faster than the Nazis once truly known.” Four dreams carried me beyond the dawn, Each one broke what I stood on. The sheikh, the king and president, the angel’s call, The fools below — I saw it all. And when I woke, the world was still, But something moved inside my will. I knew at last what dreams can mean — To die in sleep, and wake unseen. lyrics written by Laith
